Multiplying and dividing by two digits; divisibility · Usually met around P4
Two-digit × 11
Split the digits, put their sum between.
How to do it
Method
Split the digits, put their sum between
35 × 11: 3 + 5 = 8 → 385
Another way
Column multiplication
35 × 11 = 350 + 35 = 385
In full
Split the two digits apart and put their sum in the middle. 35 × 11 → 3 _ 5, with 3+5=8 in the middle → 385. If the middle makes ten or more, carry: 78 × 11 → 7 _ 8, and the middle is 15. Write the 5 and carry 1: 7+1=8 → 858. You can also multiply in columns (35 × 11 → 350 + 35 = 385).
