Putting shapes together
Count the pieces along the lines inside.
How to do it
Method
Count the pieces along the lines inside
2 triangles → 1 square
Another way
Count in steps
4 pieces each: 4, 8, 12
In full
Small shapes make big ones: 2 matching triangles make a square or a rectangle, 2 matching squares a rectangle, 4 small triangles a big triangle, 6 triangles a hexagon. To see what a big shape is made of, go along the lines inside it and count the pieces, checking how many sides each has. To make several, count in steps: each big square takes 4 small squares, so 3 take 4, 8, 12.
