Stage 3 · Times tables
×2, ×5, ×10
×5 is half of ×10.
How to do it
Method
×5 is half of ×10
6 × 5 = 60 ÷ 2 = 30
Another way
Count in 5s
6 × 5: 5, 10, 15, 20, 25, 30
In full
A whole number ×10 gets a zero on the end. ×5 is half of ×10: 6×5 → 60 halved = 30. ×2 is just doubling. These three are the easy ones — make them thought-free. You can also count in 2s, 5s and 10s, or learn the tables by heart; the answers are the same.
