Numbers to 100
Past 9 in the ones, the tens go up 1.
How to do it
Method
Past 9 in the ones, the tens go up 1
3 tens and 6 ones = 36 (thirty-six)
Another way
Hundred square
The row under 36 has 46
In full
A two-digit number is tens and ones: 3 tens and 6 ones is 36, said “thirty-six”: a 3 in the tens place and a 6 in the ones. Write just the two digits, not 30 and then 6. Counting on, the ones go from 0 to 9, and one more makes another ten: 38, 39, 40, 41. Counting back past a 0 in the ones goes back a ten: 41, 40, 39. 100 is 10 tens. Odd and even still depend only on the ones digit. Or use a number line or a hundred square: one step right is 1 more, one row down is 10 more.
