In full
To describe where something is, pick a thing to compare with: one shelf above it is “above”, one below is “below”; as you look at it, the side of your left hand is “left” and of your right hand is “right”. Something with a thing on each side is “between” them. In a queue, nearer the front is “in front”, nearer the back is “behind”: the 4th person has 3 in front. Look from the other side and left and right swap, but above and below stay.
